   Craig’s comment about dismissing all the marketing applicants that didn’t submit a video with their application seems shortsighted. Yes, everyone should be able to make a video of themselves, but they may have valid reasons for not doing so.

   Unconscious bias when hiring is very real. There are so many studies, articles, posts, etc. about people of color being excluded from jobs just because they have an ethnic sounding name. Gender has also played a part. Some of the applicants could have seen a video as lessening their chances at a great opportunity. Speaking for myself (a black male), I’d also be very reluctant to submit video when applying.

   Hopefully, he’ll take this into consideration when another opportunity opens up.
